Ok, after a week and a half of being in California I finally have internet!
Chad is gone A LOT with his job. When we first got here I was scared to death of driving so I never left the apartment and I was so bored and lonely I thought I hated being here. Luckily, while at church last Sunday, we met another couple here with Chad's company Elite and I now have a friend to hang out with during the days. Although I still miss Chad all the time it is nice to have Carly to hang out with. It got even better when Carly and I got the guts to go knock on a door that we were told was the apartment of the other Elite wife. Thats when we met Jess. Now the three of us hang out during the days and it is making California so much fun! I still have plans to find a job but its nice to have a couple weeks to just have fun and get to know the area.
Besides meeting new friends, Sunday was a really nice day. For one, Chad never has to work on any Sundays so its the one day that we can hang out all day with each other. Saturday night we looked online to find out what ward we should go to and we were confused because it said that sacrament meeting was at 12:50 pm. We thought that was weird that it wasn't at 1:00 pm but we didn't think much of it until hearing different things during sacrament. We soon realized the ward schedule is backwards. Relief Society/Priesthood start at 11:00 am, Sunday school at noon and then that explains the 12:50 pm start time. Good to know for this Sunday! It seems like a really cool and diverse ward though. Tons of Polynesians which is wonderful because I have always loved their culture. They even have a free Hawaiian class at the church on Thursday nights!
After church we went with our new friends Carly and her husband Nick and went for a walk on the beach. It was nice except... I have never experienced random tar splats on the beach. I soon discovered this on Newport beach though after stepping in something that then did NOT want to come off. I'm serious. I tried scrapping it off but no luck! We came home and tried to think of what could take it off. Nail polish maybe? Nope. Instead it spread all over and got worse. Chad and I both called out Dad's to try to get some advice and move agreed that nothing we had was going to work. We decided we needed to go to the store to get Bug and Tar remover that you would normally use on your car. It worked and I finally had my foot back!
Yesterday, we decided we needed to go to the pool and start work on getting our California tans. The only problem is that after living in Utah for the last year I am whiter than I think I have ever been in my life. Because of that, after a couple hours hanging out by the pool yesterday I am now a lobster! I'm not too sore but for sure got too much sun. Now I am just hoping it will tan up before tomorrow when we plan on going to the beach!
